Reopening Guidelines

Team Member and Guest General Guidelines and Information Updated 6-25-2020:

Team Member and Guest Health Concerns:

  • Team members and guests that are not feeling well are asked to stay home and follow CDC guidelines
  • It is recommended that individuals with a compromised immune system or those that are vulnerable take special precautions and/or consider not visiting a Kewadin property at this time
  • Team members have been given clear instructions and are thoroughly trained on how to swiftly respond and provide support to all guests while on property

Team Member and Guest Arrival:

  • Guests of all ages are welcome to enter the property at this time
  • Guests under the age of 19 are asked to adhere to Kewadin’s guidelines while on property including wearing masks, social distancing, hand washing and guest occupancy limits
  • All properties will monitor and adhere to appropriate guest capacity limits
  • All active entrances will have team members present to welcome and conduct a temperature check for all guests and team members entering the property. All temperature checks will be done with an infrared thermometer that does not require personal contact
  • Guests and team members with a temperature 100.4 degrees and above will be required to submit to a secondary temperature check and will not be permitted to enter if the secondary check is also 100.4 degrees and above
  • Smoking will be limited to designated areas only
  • Entrances will be limited at Kewadin Casinos Sault Ste. Marie, Manistique, and Christmas. Active entrances can be found here or on our Facebook pages.

Personal Protection Equipment:

  • Team members and guests are required to wear a mask in public spaces. A mask will be provided to all guests and team members, you may wear a personal mask while if you choose to do so
  • Plexiglass barriers have been placed between team members and guests where possible.
  • Gloves will be provided for guests that request them while supplies last.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers have been increased throughout the property both front and back of house areas as well as key guest areas. Sanitizing dispensers are available at all high traffic areas as well as placed throughout the gaming floor for convenience when moving to new slot machines
  • Signage will be placed throughout the property as a reminder of the proper way to wear, handle and dispose of PPE equipment

Cleaning/Sanitizing Protocol:

  • All restrooms, elevators, counters, furniture, workstation, doors, kiosks, ATM’s, frequently used equipment and multi-touch areas will be sanitized consistently in both team member and guest areas
  • Protocols and cleaning products being utilized meet or exceed the EPA guidelines and the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing protocol has increased

Physical Distancing:

  • Guest and team members will be advised to practice physical distancing by keeping a 6 foot distance from others while moving throughout the casino or standing in line
  • Floor guides and crown control equipment will be placed in high traffic areas to assist with this
  • Additional guidelines will be noted by department

VIP and Player Club Services:

  • Guest occupancy limits set to two guests at a time to allow for appropriate social distancing guidelines
  • Coffee and water service will be provided by VIP staff when available – no self-serve available
  • Guests will remain at their current club status for an extended period of 6 months
  • Club promotions will be postponed upon re-opening
  • Guests will receive new offers in place of previous expired offers
  • Returned cards will be disposed of and lost cards will be reprinted

Guest Services:

  • All service phones on the gaming floor will not be available for use
  • All self-service stations will be temporarily placed out of service
  • Servers will be available for beverage service
  • Wheelchairs will be sanitized after each use
  • Coat check will be limited to individual cubbies. Cubbies will be sanitized after each use
  • Valet services not immediately available

Gaming Operations:

  • Consistent sanitizing of machine touch points with additional sanitizing at guest request
  • Table games, keno and bingo will not be immediately available upon re-open. Once available tables and chairs will be restructured to meet social distancing guidelines
  • There will be additional sanitizing criteria for all gaming equipment such as dice, chips, money paddles, roulette wheel and ball, toke boxes and rating devices etc.
  • Slot machines will be turned off and/or reconfigured to allow for physical separation between guests. Casino supervisors and managers will ensure that guests do not congregate around slot machines

Catering and Banquets:

  • All shared equipment will be sanitized before and after each use
  • All linen will be replaced and laundered after each use
  • Seating capacity and floor plans will be set up to ensure social distancing practices
  • Buffet and self-serve style events will not be immediately available

Food and Beverage Operations:

  • Tables and chairs have been relocated to allow for social distancing guidelines
  • Condiments to be served in disposable single-use containers
  • Menus to be single-use and/or disposable
  • All self-serve condiments and utensils to be removed and available from cashiers or server stations
  • All food and beverage items are served in disposable single-use containers
  • All food and beverage items to be placed on the table, counter, slot or other surface instead of being handed directly to a guest

Hotel Operations:

  • Each guest will receive an amenity bag with appropriate PPE upon check-in
  • Additional sanitizer or wipes will be included in each room – based on availability of products
  • The exercise room and pool areas will follow recommended occupancy limits; these limits will be posted at each area
  • Elevators are limited to four guests at a time
  • All non-essential items are removed from rooms
  • Bell and luggage carts will be sanitized after each use
  • Extra towels, pillows and blankets have been removed each room and are available upon request
  • Housekeeping will not enter stay-over guest rooms, any refreshed items will be delivered to guest rooms in a single use bag
  • Increased room cleanliness protocol to cover all touch points within each guest room including but, not limited to all furniture, doors, door knobs, phones, remotes, thermostats, curtain pulls, fixtures, blow-dryers, iron, ironing boards, luggage stands, lighting controls, hangers, microwaves, refrigerators and amenities
  • Ice and vending machines are sanitized consistently and more frequently
  • Business center is monitored for activity – clean and sanitize every hour
  • Mail being delivered to a guest will be placed in a sealed package for delivery


  • Guest occupancy limits set to allow for appropriate social distancing guidelines
    Signage will be prominently posted at each store with maximum occupancies
  • All merchandise will be served/handled by a retail attendant; no self-serve available in any category
  • All sales final until further notice
